What are you doing to help?

A while ago, I was having my devotions, considering all the questions, complaints and things that came to mind and telling God about all these things. I felt that I really was not complaining because I was asking what to do about them and how to handle it. The answer I got was, "You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. Which are you?" I was dumbfounded. I thought I was neither since I was not complaining, but I was not helping. The verse from James 1:22 came rushing to my mind. It says, "Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." (NIV)

I decided that I would rather be a part of the solution (be a doer) than a part of the problem (a hearer only) so I started to serve Him. Being obedient to what you hear and believing what God is saying to you is not always easy, but the blessings and growth I have experienced are better than what I had before.

I help Shannon with WoRM (MSPC's version of Sunday School) by helping to get teachers for the rotations. I have heard all kinds of reasons why someone can't help, from "I have never taught before" to my favorite one,"I'm too old." I thought that we were all called and all pledged to help the children grow in the Word. Those adults who have helped with WoRM say it was the best time they have had and some have taught back-to-back rotations! We have a great team of teachers in place now - and some of them had never taught before this. I can't wait to hear some of their stories as we go through this rotation!

Would you like to be part of the solution - be a doer - with me? Doing or serving what you are called to be or do gives you so much in terms of growth and blessings. There are many opportunities to be a "doer" in our church, just ask someone who knows or they can tell you who to talk to.

I will be praying for you. God Bless.
